Golden Eagle flies
Beer of the week at the Star appears to have been a cask of Cotleigh Golden Eagle (4.2%). I say appears to have been because it ran out the moment I walked through the door on Saturday. So I was left with: Springhead Spring Fever (4%), a light golden beer with some citrus fruit, not a stand-out beer; Clearwater Cavalier (4%), fruity and malty and just a bit sweet for me; RCH Double Header (5.2%), a deceptively drinkable golden beer, citrus fruity again but with a little balancing malt; and the seasonal Hadda's Spring Gold (4.6%), from the Vale Brewery, a golden ale brewed with First Gold hops. But my beer of the weekend was Country Life Golden Pig (4.7%), with crystal and wheat malt combining nicely with Challenger hops to make a beer that's a bit too drinkable.
